How to Care for and Protect Your Diamond Ring

Have descriptive characteristics of your diamonds and ring written on both your copy and the store's copy of the take-in receipt. If you leave a diamond bracelet or necklace with someone, also have the length of the piece and the number of stones or links written on the receipt. It is normal for stores and appraisers to write colorless stone or yellow metal in place of diamond and gold if they don't have time to test the stone and the metal.
